Just a reminder! Our trip is tomorrow. Please come prepared with proper clothing, water, food and sunscreen.

Water Trip Kananaskis

Our class has the amazing opportunity to go to Kananaskis next week on May 30th to participate in water quality testing in correlation with the Science Grade 8 Fresh and Salt Water Systems unit. They were given forms today to return ASAP to their Science teachers. Please take a look at the letter as it contains really important information about what to bring, expectations, etc.

Important information:

  • We are departing the school at 9:00 am and returning to school at around 2:30 pm.
  • Please ensure that your child has a healthy lunch, snacks, and water for the day.  There WILL NOT be any place to purchase food or water and we will be eating our lunches on the bus.
  • Weather in the mountains can change very quickly and often is very different from the weather in Calgary.
    • It is recommended that students have a warm jacket, gloves, and a hat, sunscreen as well as some clothing for rain.
    • Proper footwear is also very important and we also recommended that each student wear rubber boats (or at least some sort of protective footwear) as we will be either “in” or “at the edge” of the Elbow River several times during the day.

Forms must be returned on May 26th latest. We do need a parent volunteer, so if a parent is interested in helping us out and heading out to the mountains for the day please email Mr. Schmidt .

Thank you and we can't wait for May 30th!

It's Over!
Congratulations for all the hard work you did on the Brave New World project. Please resume checking the individual math/science and hum blog pages for homework updates.

It's a Brave New World!

We are giving you an extension! We have moved all presentations to Wednesday. You will have Tuesday to finish the project up entirely!

This is the final week for the project! Things to be working on:
1. Science Report
2. Math Report
3. Presentation

You have had 4/8 periods of CTF time for building so far. Please be mindful of your project and arrange extra work time with your group if needed.

Your group should be almost done the Treaty, and it must be finished tomorrow.

Math and Science reports have begun. Be mindful of your time.

We are back into the swing of things for the next two weeks of the project. CTF building days have started. Students are expected to have their materials here at school and use their building time wisely. We are also working on our Treaties and will soon be starting the Math component.

By the end of the day on March 22 you must be FINISHED the following items of the project so far:
1. Regions Research Booklet
2. Science Research Booklet
3. Bibliography
4. Good copy of Policy of Imperialism
5. Most of Blue Prints done
6. Materials list has been started

If you are not done these items your group needs to communicate how this will be finished over the break.

Take a look at the calendar below for changes.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After our Grade 8 meeting today, we have decided all Grade Eights in the building need another full day to work on their Science research organizer. You will have two periods Monday, as well as study stop with Ms. Noullett and Mr. Schmidt after school, to complete your Science research organizer.

Here are the notes from Rm. 10 today:

We are almost done the first week of the project! You should be done all your research by the end of tomorrow. Also, you should have a completed bibliography sheet done. Tomorrow we get into the HUM work with the policy of Imperialism/Expansionism.

This week

The interdisciplinary project began today. Students now know their groups. Homework updates for the project can be found on this home page throughout the project. Please be mindful of the calendar and be vigilant in following due dates.
